Great Food and Drinks at the PI Beachcoma! The transformation from Atty May’s Beachcomba Restaurant, that was empty for 7 years, to a relaxed, surfside hangout is a welcomed attitude to the Newburyport area.
Step off the beach into the casual family restaurant or pull up a stool and let Michael, the bartender (formerly at Agave), create an amazing fresh fruit concoction for you.
I’ve been there twice in the past two weeks for two totally different experiences. First with my boyfriends son, Ry,11 years old – and one of the pickiest eaters out there. We split a chicken & bacon pizza and “The Best Ribs”. The thin crust pizza was loaded with chicken and bacon and had a fresh, slightly sweet red sauce – I had to fight Ry for a piece! “The Best Ribs” were excellent. Although I tend to like them a bit more “falling off the bone” they were very tender and had a lick your fingers clean BBQ sauce. My second visit was last night with my boyfriend,Geoffrey. As the fresh mango margaritas flowed we enjoyed a grilled shrimp with a pesto sauce appetizer and a lobster & goat cheese pizza. The shrimp was so tender, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The pizza was covered with lobster, a delicate white sauce, goat cheese and scallions – so yummy!
Touting all homemade meals and fresh squeezed drinks – this is going to be more than a summer hot spot. The casual, surfer feel is perfect place to get out of the sun and re-hydrate or to hang with the kids for a relax mid-week dinner.
